Two of Norway’s national parks lie in the close proximity of Geilo, Hallingskarvet National Park and Hardangervidda National Park. The National parks are ideal for outdoor pursuits and feature marked trails, staffed lodges and selfservice cabins.
Norway has established 47 national parks on the mainland and seven on Svalbard in order to conserve the diversity of Norwegian nature. National Parks are created to protect large areas and prevent major encroachments, including wilderness areas, large ecosystems and important recreational areas.
The national parks are excellent recreational areas for anyone looking to experience unspoiled nature.
